TLE Working ROV Hangar
For Transocean Leader oil platform it was necessary to design a new ROV hangar with the underwater equipment from Oceaneering, one of the world’s leading suppliers of underwater robots.
Most of the hangars are installed as extending beyond the platform to allow automatic lowering of the equipment into the deep sea. Remote control of the robots takes place from the control room, separated from the hangar itself due to safety regulations.
The full equipment of the hangar, apart from the robot itself, includes a winch, blocks, slings, hydraulically opened hatch. All these elements had to be adapted to the newly designed structure and installed on the platform itself without any collision. All these tasks were undertaken by the NAVIC team, who, in full cooperation with Oceaneering, designed ROV Hangar and participated in the fabrication process and trial run at OneCo. Production of complete hangar and delivery to the platform was OnceCo responsibility.
All design work has been verified and accepted by DNV GL, which means that all the design requirements for this type of structure, including those arising from dynamic and fatigue loads, have been met.
We have also designed similar types of structures for several other platforms, including West Hercules, Aker Barents and Aker Spitsbergen.
